Training emphasizes practical, real-life application so skills translate beyond the training environment into daily routines, public outings, and structured exercise.
Throughout the course, teams will work toward improved focus, consistency, and handler awareness while navigating real-world distractions.
Opportunities to track activity-based goals and earn walking or fitness-related titles (AKC/DMWYD) may be incorporated depending on each team’s progress.
Prerequisites:
No formal training required.
Dogs should be comfortable working in a group environment.
TotalDog Foundations

Course Description:
This beginner-level course is designed to establish a strong foundation for dogs of all ages. Training focuses on essential skills such as basic commands, engagement, leash handling, and polite manners.
Emphasis is placed on building clear communication, confidence, and structure while introducing dogs and handlers to effective training techniques. This course sets the stage for future training by developing consistency, focus, and a positive working relationship between dog and handler.
Prerequisites:
No prior training required.

TotalDog Foundations

This beginner-level course is designed to establish a strong foundation for dogs of all ages. Training focuses on essential skills such as basic commands, engagement, leash handling, and polite manners.
Emphasis is placed on building clear communication, confidence, and structure while introducing effective training techniques that can be applied in everyday life. This course provides the groundwork for continued training and long-term success.

TotalDog Advanced

Course Description:
This advanced-level course is designed for teams looking to refine their skills, improve precision, and achieve a high level of reliability in real-world settings. Building upon foundational and intermediate training, dogs and handlers will focus on advanced obedience, responsiveness under distraction, and consistent performance in more complex scenarios.
This program is ideal for those preparing for higher-level evaluations such as CGCA, CGCU, or therapy dog work, or for those simply looking to develop a well-rounded, highly reliable companion. Emphasis is placed on clarity, control, and maintaining engagement in a variety of environments.
Canine Good Citizen Advanced/Community Canine (CGCA),
Canine Good Citizen Urban (CGCU),
and/or
Therapy Dogs United therapy certification
testing will be available at the end of the course, for eligible teams.
Prerequisites:
Dogs should have a strong foundation in basic and intermediate skills, including reliable sit/down, stay, recall, and the ability to work around distractions, other dogs & people without reactivity.
Dogs should have recieved their AKC Canine Good Citizen certification within the past 24 months. A current CGC is required to attend this course.
Dogs must be 1 year of age or older.
Prior completion of an intermediate-level course or instructor evaluation/approval is required.
TotalPuppy FUNdamentals
Start Date: Wednesday May 27th
Day & Time: Wednesdays @ 6:30 PM

Course Description:
Designed specifically for puppies, this course focuses on early development, socialization, and foundational training skills during a critical learning period. Puppies will be introduced to basic cues, confidence-building exercises, and appropriate exposure to new environments, people, and stimuli.
This program emphasizes creating positive learning experiences while helping owners establish structure, communication, and good habits from the start. Early engagement and proper development are key components in setting puppies up for long-term success.
AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy testing will be available at the end of the course, to puppies that have attended 6 training sessions minimum (testing requirement).
Prerequisites:
For puppies typically under 9 months of age.
Puppies must not reach 1 year of age by the final course session.
No prior training required.
TotalDog Intermediate
Start Date: Tuesday June 2nd

Course Description:
This course builds upon foundational training to develop greater consistency, responsiveness, and reliability. Teams will continue strengthening core obedience skills while introducing more advanced applications, increased distractions, and longer durations.
This program also serves as preparation for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test, while maintaining a strong focus on real-world manners and engagement. Dogs and handlers will work toward improved communication, focus, and confidence in a variety of training scenarios.
Prerequisites:
Dogs should have a basic understanding of foundational skills such as sit, down, and basic leash handling.
Prior completion of a beginner-level course or instructor approval is recommended.
TotalDog Enrichment
Start Date: Wednesday June 3rd
Day & Time: Wednesdays @ 7:30 PM

Course Description:
This engaging and interactive course focuses on developing a well-rounded dog through a combination of trick training, fitness exercises, and enrichment-based activities. Dogs and handlers will build confidence, body awareness, engagement, and problem-solving skills in a fun and structured environment.
This program offers opportunities to explore a variety of activities while strengthening the bond between dog and handler. Depending on each team’s progress, opportunities for AKC Trick Dog, AKC FIT Dog, and Do More With Your Dog (DMWYD) titles may be available.
Prerequisites:
Dogs should be comfortable working in a group setting.
Basic obedience, basic engagement and ability to focus on handler are helpful but not required.
TotalDog Intermediate+
Start Date: Friday June 19th
Day & Time: Fridays @ 7:30 PM

Course Description:
This next-level course combines intermediate obedience training with engaging, skill-building activities to create a well-rounded and reliable dog. Teams will continue developing real-world manners, responsiveness, and focus while incorporating fun elements such as trick training and interactive exercises.
This program provides continued progression toward the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test while also enhancing engagement, confidence, and overall performance. CGC testing opportunities, as well as AKC Trick Dog & Do More With Your Dog (DMWYD) testing opportunities, will be available to eligible teams at the end of the course

Dogs should have a solid foundation in basic skills and be able to work around other dogs and moderate distractions.
Prior completion of a beginner-level course or instructor approval is recommended.
